Crochet is an art of creating fabric from yarn or thread, by using a hook and a ball of yarn. Always we have to begin the crochet stitches with a slip knot, Make the slip knot by laying the yarn down and looping it. Making sure your short piece, the tail, is on top of the long yarn. Next, flip the whole thing down, onto the longer yarn. Grab the middle yarn between your thumb and forefinger and pull the middle yarn out gently. Hang on to tail and pull the loop tight.
How to hold the hook is the other question while crocheting, there are two basic holds, one method is to hold the hook as you hold the pencil i.e. grasping the hook between your thumb and index finger. And the other method is to hold the hook as we hold the knife, i.e. place your right hand over the hook and grasp it between your thumb and index finger to begin. We can use whichever method is more comfortable.
After tightening the loop, Pick up the loop in your left hand and slide the hook into the loop and tighten the loop around the hook. Not too tight, there should be some space.
Now Turn the long side of the thread around your index finger. Grab the short side, the tail, with your middle and ring fingers. Hold the hook in your right hand. This way of holding the thread and the hook will create enough space to move the hook and it keeps tension on the thread.
Begin the chain stitch by twisting the thread around the hook and pull it through the loop.please note that do not make the loop too tight, now one chain stitch is made and then continue to the second loop by pulling the thread so through the second loop you get the second chain stitch and repeat it to have chained row.
To finish, cut the long side of the yarn and pull it through the loop. Now a chained Row is made….
